A family man through and through, Taz shares two handsome boys with his wife. If you can’t catch him on the phone, it is likely that he’s gone fishing if the weather is fine. If it is windy, no worries, give him a call.

Edwina Plueckhahn

Edwina Plueckhahn

Oral Health Therapist & Director

Bio

Edwina is a proud part-owner of Kapunda Dental and Oral Health Therapist with ability to provide majority of dental care to patients of all ages. Edwina has always had a driven and passionate personality, so when she met and later married her farming husband back in 2019, she decided to tackle ways to improve access to dentistry in rural areas. She swapped surfing for gardening and thongs for boots. Luckily, she already knew how to drive a manual ute, which has come in handy on the farm.

Starting her career in Jamestown offered a wonderful experience, where community spirit highlighted to Edwina how wonderful country living can really be. Time in the country led to bonfires and playing tennis on weekends, she admits however she has never been able to swap the pool for the netball court and prefers to be seen at the local pool early in the morning.

Since progressing her career to the country, Edwina and her husband have welcomed two beautiful girls who provide their lives with simple unfiltered joy. Edwina hopes that women can feel successful at all areas of their lives including mum life, farm life and dental life. Although, don’t start talking teeth with her, because she may never stop.

Dental Facts

Edwina prides herself on being a rural dental professional since graduating from The University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2016. Edwina has practiced throughout the Mid North including Jamestown, Balaklava and Riverton. To be able to offer extended care to her patients, Edwina advanced her studies, completing a Bachelor in Dental Science (First Class Honours), two additional Graduate Certificates in Oral Health Science (UAdel) and Dental Therapy (UMelb).

Edwina has obtained a BSc.Dent Honours (First Class) degree, focused on maternal and child oral health in coordination with ARCPOH’s SMILE Study. As a clinician Edwina’s approach is gentle, holistic and caring, tailoring treatment and preventive oral health education to patient’s specific concerns. She believes it is important for patients to understand how oral health can affect general health and loves to have a chat to help improve patients’ confidence around their own oral health behaviours.

Edwina is a past President of the Australian Dental and Oral Heath Therapists Association SA/NT (ADOHTA).
